arious areas of broadcast engineering work include extensive International Broadcast Centre, (IBC), and Master Control Room, (MCR), operations for ABC News Intercontinental, BBC Resources, ITV Sport, The EBU, The London Studios, Input Media & Molinare along with satellite uplink / downlink operations in the busy teleports of Telenor UK and Globecast Northern Europe.
Systems and equipment used include; BNCS, Grass Valley, Leitch, Link Research, Newtec, Omnibus, Pesa, Probel, RTS Telex, ScheduAll, Snell & Wilcox, Tandberg, Tektronix, Trilogy and Vistek, to name but a few.
Employed in ITV’s lines department at TLS to co-ordinate communications and satellite / fibre feeds from around France and the UK for coverage of this premier rugby competition. The number of venues and ITV’s use of roving ‘newsgathering’ teams presented a plethora of communication requirements and interconnects that were engineered to produce the best possible service for the production teams involved. May/June/July 06 (ITV Sport); 2006 Football World Cup Finals. Based in the International Broadcast Centre, (IBC) for ITV Sport’s extensive coverage of the World Cup. Part of a team of 6 who constructed, operated and (eventually) dismantled the whole ITV technical operation within the Munich broadcast centre. Feb 06 (EBU Sports Operations), 2006 Winter Olympic Games, Turin, Italy. Employed in the MCR of the EBU at the IBC, Turin. Responsibilities included operation and troubleshooting the installation of the EBU’s equipment along with feeds to it’s members, (both within the IBC and out to it’s members home countries). Aug 04 (EBU Sports Operations), 2004 Summer Olympic Games, Athens, Greece. Installation and operation of the EBU Master Control Room serving some forty plus EBU members within the Athens based IBC and its many members located throughout Europe. June 04 (EBU Sports Operations / EBS2004), Euro 2004 European Football Championships, Lisbon, Portugal. Installation and operation of the Host Broadcaster MCR, along with management of the MCR Operations team. PHOTO'S July/Aug 02 (BBC Host Broadcaster); Installation, operation and maintenance of the 'BBC Host Broadcaster (COMBO)' MCR in the IBC, along with work at a venue Technical Operations Centre, (TOC), for the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games. PHOTO'S May/June/July 02 (ITV Sport); MCR construction and operation of the ITV facility in the International Broadcast Centre, Seoul, for ITV's extensive coverage of the World Cup 2002 football finals. PHOTO'S Jan 02 (EBU Sports Operations), Salt Lake 2002 Winter Olympic Games. Installation, operation and maintenance of the EBU's MCR and dispatch area in the IBC Salt Lake City. PHOTO'S June 01 (BBC), Engineering Co-ordinator of the Satellite Hub for their Election 2001 programme. Sept 00 (EBU Sports Operations), Sydney2000 Olympic Games Operation and maintenance of the EBU's MCR in the IBC at Homebush, Sydney. June 00 (ITV Sport); MCR operations based in the International Broadcast Centre, Amsterdam, for ITV's extensive coverage of the Euro2000 football championships. Dec 99/Jan 00 (ABC News); construction and operation of a 3 camera OB in Rome for the "ABC 2000 Millenium Special". Received an "Emmy" from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for involvement in this programme. May 97 (BBC), Engineering Co-ordinator of South East Hub for their Election 97 programme. Dec 96/Jan 97 Engineering Co-ordination for Channel 4's "Wanted" programme. Aug 96 (EBU Sports Operations), Atlanta Olympic Games Based in the EBU MCR at the International Broadcast Centre in Atlanta working as a VANDA engineer for the 1996 Centennial Olympic games. July 96 FORTO 96, European Football Championships Working in the VANDA control area for FORTO 96, acting as host broadcaster for the 1996 European Football Championships. |
